One of the most beloved characters on the early seasons of The Simpsons has to be Troy McClure, voiced by the late, great Phil Hartman. One of Springfield's handsomest men was the star of TV and movies, as well as host of infomercials, educational films, and even celebrity funerals, if any Simpsons characters were watching television or an ancient infotainment reel, it's a safe bet McClure's face was on that screen.
He helped solidify Lisa's vegetarianism with "Meat & You: Partners in Freedom" and he used the starpower from his relationship with Selma to make his passion project, The Contrabulous Fabtraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagel. In fact, Troy McClure even hosted a whole episode, "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular."
