In the 1960's, Looney Tunes and Charlie Brown reigned supreme. The Beatles came out with their trippy, visual, musical experience, Yellow Submarine, and Dr. Seuss's The Grinch was brought to life with animation.
Bugs Bunny culturally dominated many of the films on this list of the top ‘60s cartoon movies. Bugs and his Looney Tunes pals are joined by lesser-known pictures like Gay Purr-ee, the tale of a cat in Paris, featuring Judy Garland in her first and only animated role. A number of avant-garde directors also made some interesting ‘60s cartoon movies. David Lynch, director of Blue Velvet, produced the 1968 short film Alphabet, combining cartoon and live action in a cocktail of surrealism.
